Our Basic New England Tour

With

 Day 1 - Come discover the beauty and charm that is unique to New England.  Your journey begins in historic Boston, “The Birthplace of the Nation”.  Revisit Colonial America during a guided tour that will take you through the narrow and winding streets and alleys of Boston’s oldest neighborhood, and see the familiar and famous historic sites central to the early days of our nation!  We have arranged a Welcome Dinner in one of Boston’s finest restaurants.  (Overnight Boston Area)


Day 2 - Begin today with a walking tour of Harvard Yard in Cambridge then it’s on to Lexington and Concord for a visit to North Bridge where the “shot was fired heard round the world”.  You’ll see the homes of famous American authors; Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Nathaniel Hawthorn.

Then we will relive life in 1830’s rural New England at “Old Sturbridge Village” (Overnight Sturbridge).

Day 3 - The beautiful Green Mountain State of Vermont is our next destination beginning with a visit to the classic New England town of Woodstock.  Just a short way down the road is the picturesque hamlet of Plymouth Notch, birthplace of President Calvin Coolidge, a village frozen in time and worth a visit.  (2 Nights Rutland area)

Day 4 - We continue our visit with a stop in the college town of Burlington, Vermont’s largest city, located on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain.  Along the way we will stop at local roadside stands to indulge in Vermont delicacies such as maple syrup and maple sugar products, cheddar cheese and ice cream made from fresh Vermont cream.  Have your cameras handy throughout the day since this state boast the most covered bridges anywhere in the country.

A special treat today will be a visit to the ski village of Stowe and dinner at the Von Trapp Family Lodge (of “Sound of Music” fame). 

Day 5 – This morning we cross the Connecticut River into New Hampshire.  Our first stop will be to visit the oldest country store in America and walk over a covered bridge for an up-close examination of this relic from the past.  Then we’ll drive the Kancamagus Highway for some of the most beautiful and dramatic scenery in the White Mountains.   (Overnight North Conway area)

Day 6 – Today our route will take us through classic Maine mill towns, along rivers and the shore of Lake Sebago, Maine’s largest lake.  Our destination is the seaside community of Kennebunkport, summer home of former President George H. Bush.  En route we’ll see quaint lighthouses that have been standing guard since the 1700’s warning mariners of danger along the rocky shoreline.

A special Farewell Traditional Lobster Bake has been planned for this evening.  (Overnight Boston area)

Day 7 – This morning you begin your journey home filled with wonderful memories of time spent in New England.

 


2-Day Extended Option To Include Bar Harbor, Maine & Acadia National Park – 9 Days/8 Nights

Day 6 - This morning we say farewell to the Granite State and make our way to Maine for a visit to Bar Harbor and spectacular Acadia National Park.  We’ll arrive in time for dinner.  (2 Nights Bar Harbor area).

 

Day 7- Today we will tour Acadia journeying to the top of Cadillac Mountain for a fabulous view of Frenchmen’s Bay.  The afternoon and evening is at leisure to enjoy this charming resort town or perhaps join an optional Whale Watch Cruise.

       

Day 8 - The coastal route will take us through picturesque seaside communities to the Town of Camden, home of the Windjammer Fleet.  Our destination is the seaside community of Kennebunkport, summer home of former President George H.  1-Day Extended Option To Include “Visiting All SIX New England States” – 8 Days/7 Nights

Day 2 - We depart Concord, Massachusetts to visit the 2nd New England State of Rhode Island, nicknamed “The Ocean State”.  Newport is known as the Yachting Capital of the World and is home to the America’s Cup Race.  We’ll be treated to a guided tour of this playground for the rich and famous and visit one of the many “Mansions of the Gilded Age”. 

Then we cross the border to our 3rd New England State, Connecticut, where we arrive in time for dinner and overnight in Mystic.  (Overnight Mystic)

Day 3 - We begin this morning with a visit to Mystic Seaport to experience maritime New England in the early part of the 19th century.  Then it’s on to Sturbridge for dinner and overnight.  (Overnight Sturbridge)

Day 4 - This morning we step back in time to 1830’s rural New England with a visit to “Old Sturbridge Village”.  Here you’ll have the opportunity to see goods created by craftsmen using tools of the period.  Following lunch we head north to Vermont, nicknamed “The Green Mountain State”, and the 4th New England State of our journey.
